Management of Haemophilia Bleeding Disorder Von Willebrand disease

Case Record No…….. Dated……….

A 7 year old female child Miss.RNA, a known case of von willebrand disease under treatment had complaints of recurrent uncontrolled bleeding episodes due to frequent minor injuries. She had recurrent episodes of gum bleeding during dentition and greenish discoloration of skin patch formation due to blood extravasations around joint regions especially knee joint while playing.

She also had recurrent episodes of fever with multiple joints pain. Her pain was better by massaging applying gentle pressure over painful area.

Investigation reports suggest the following:
Bleeding time increased
Partial thromboplastin time increased
Thrombin time increased
Presence of anti factor VIII antibody
Deficiency of factor VIII C level

For bleeding to control, she was advised allopathic medicines Tranexamic acid whenever required. If it was not getting control then she would need to be hospitalized for infusion of Cyroprecipitate / factor VIII concentrate rich in Von willebrand factor.

She looked fair, lean and thin. She had a lively expression while talking. She was a very active and playful child. By nature, she would get angry very fast. During anger, she would hit her mother. Then she would cry continuously, shrieking and shouting nonstop. She wanted all her wishes to be satisfied immediately. She had fear of animals. She was good in studies and good in drawing. She liked rainy season. She could not tolerate excess of heat and cold atmosphere. She would get irritated with loud noise. She liked dancing.

She was given homoeopathic medicine Belladonna and Phosphorus in variable doses. There was significant improvement in joints pain, greenish discoloration of skin patch formation and frequency of bleeding episodes. General well being was also improved. Child is still under treatment.

Note: Homoeopathic Medicines used in this case are as per the indications. In all cases same medicines cannot be given. Every case has its unique presentation for prescription. Same medicine cannot be used for all the patients suffering from same disease condition. Homoeopathic medicines should be always taken under physician’s guidance only. Self-medications are not safe and prone to side effects.
